Sailing Has Big Night at Ricoh Sport NS Awards

Mike__WayneIt was a big night for sailing at the annual Ricoh Sport Nova Scotia awards held Saturday, June 5 at the World Trade and Convention Centre in Halifax.
Mike Todd (pictured left) was named Nova Scotia Coach of the Year for leading the sailing team to a gold and three silvers at the 2009 Canada Games. This was the best ever performance by the team at a Canada Games.
St. Margaret Sailing Club was named Sport Nova Scotia Community Association of the Year for hosting the 2009 Nautel Laser World Championships. Representing the Club at the event was Commodore Wayne Trowse, pictured right.
Other finalists were Jonathan Reid & Ted Skiffington in the Team of the Year category, OfficIal Rob Williams, and Nautel in the Major Sponsor category.
Also recognized at the event were the following NSYA nominees;
Barbara Pike and Rod Millar Volunteers of the Year, Erin Rafuse Female Athlete of the Year, Tom Brosky Male Athlete of the Year. Paul Tingley, Lisa Ross, Daniel Taylor and Adam Baker were honoured as Athletes of the Month.
