Appleton Estate Joins Harbour Race Sponsors
The NSYA is pleased to welcome Appleton Estate as the title sponsor of the
annual NSYA Appleton Estate Cup (formerly the Harbour Race) which will be sailed on Saturday, May
30. It will be a Bermuda start race with starts at 1pm from BBYC and RNSYS.
The after-race party details are still being worked on, but we do know it
will take place at Hamachi Steakhouse at Bishop's Landing with a live band
and great silent and live auction.
More information will be posted shortly.
Race Management Seminars Offered
To date the NSYA has scheduled two CYA Race Management Seminars for this
spring. Both the Assistant Race Officer and Club Race Officer levels will
be offered. The ARO level is offered in the morning while the CRO level is
offered the same afternoon.
Registration for each course is handled by the NSYA and will be posted
shortly on our website.

Saturday, April 25 at St. Margaret Sailing Club
Race Management Course #2
Saturday, May 23 at Bras d'Or Yacht Club in Baddeck.

NSYA Spring Series Begins May 2
The annual NSYA Spring Series runs over the first three consecutive weekends
in May. (May 2-3, 9-10, 16-17). This year the Series will be held at the
RNSYS. Registration begins each day at 11am, first race at 12 noon, last

Junior Spring
Series to include 420, Lasers, and Radial
The RNSYS and Coach Craig Guthrie will be hosting a Junior
Sailing Spring Series for 420s, Lasers, and Laser Radials. Full details click

Canada Day Match Racing Event
The first annual Canada Day Match Racing Regatta will hit
the waters of Halifax Harbour with a “one day, winner takes all” event
on July 1st. The
event is to raise money for the Nova Scotia Sailing Team, Nova Scotia Canada
Games Team ’09, and promote the J24 class in Nova Scotia.
There will match racing seminars, tactic and information sessions,
great food and events to make for an exciting celebration of our country.
So come out on Canada Day for some fierce competition in the J24
fleet, or take a seat on the Halifax waterfront and watch the team’s
battle it out. For more

Nova Scotia Sailors Welcome the World
Nova Scotia plays host to the World in August and September of this year
with the 2009 Laser World and Masters World Championships. From the 20th of
August to the 5th of September some of the best sailors in the world will
compete on the waters of St. Margaret’s Bay. For more information click

NSYA will host this spring. There are significant changes to the program so

New Rule Books for sale
The NSYA is now selling the new Racing Rules of Sailing
(2009-2012) with CYA prescriptions. Cost is $19.00 and they are
available by contacting the NSYA
office.
